Tacloban City – The City of Tacloban is a recipient of 183 Million Pesos Rehabilitation Fund on Yolanda (RAY) from the national Government.This represents 80 percent of the approved amount of 230 Million Pesos as per rehabilitation plan submitted by the city government to DILG.
No less than Mayor Alfred Romualdez himself accepted the check from DILG Secretary Mar Roxas in a simple ceremony held in a resort in Palo, Leyte sometime in April this year.
The financial assistance is intended for the rehabilitation of three major infrastructures of the city that were damaged by the super typhoon namely the City Hall, Public Markets and civic centers that includes the Tacloban City Astrodome.
As per data obtained from DILG-8 Regional Office the breakdown of the 183 Million Pesos financial aid are as follows:
Tacloban City Hall Buildings – 116,878,56.30, Public Market- 68,434,427.52,Civic Centers – 16,155,348.82
The remaining amount of 47 Million Pesos representing Twenty percent of the total approved budget will be released as soon as the first tranche of funds are liquidated by the city government.
The city government is under obligation to update the public on a regular basis as to the implementation of the projects funded by RAY .
A total of 700 Million Pesos was released by the national government to typhoon affected local government units under the Rehabilitation Assistance on Yolanda financial aid initiative.
