Motorists travelling the Babatngon to San Miguel road were stranded for more than two hours due to the unfavourable road condition in the section of Barangay Bacung Babatngon Leyte.
The tires of two trailer trucks and an Elf got stuck in the mud, blocking the supposed to be a two lanes road section.
Heavy equipment owned by the contractor towed the trailer truck to give way for the motorists who were becoming impatient due to the delayed response of the contractor and DPWH officials from the 1st Leyte Engineering district that has jurisdiction in the area.
DPWH should set up a command post in the area to provide direction/guidance and assistance to motorists and to ensure public safety under the circumstances.
