Seal of Good Local governance

Tacloban City – The Department of the interior and local government have conferred the Seal of Good Local governance (SGLG) award to three municipalities of Leyte namely: Barugo, Carigara and Jaro in three different ceremonies held for each municipality.

DILG-8 Director Dr. Pedro A. Noval Jr. Presided the installation of the seals with the respective Mayors , local officials and other local government functionaries in attendance.

In his message Director Noval said Ang award na ito ay isang pag papatunay na ang mga namumuno sa bayang ito ay hinde lang magagaling at matitino kundi sila ay mga tapat at marangal na mga lingkod Bayan” referring to the local government officials of the three municipalities.

“Ang award na Ito ay ma ihahalintulad sa pagiging isang Summa Cum Laude sa pag tatapos sa kolehiyo dahilan sa ito ang pangatlong pag kakataon na ang inyong bayan ay naka tangap ng award mula sa DILG at sana maipag patuloy niyo ang pag kakaisa at pag tutulongan alang alang sa kapakanan ng inyong mamamayan” referring to the municipality of Jaro, Leyte who were awarded with the Seal of Good Housekeeping bronze and silver category in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

In response to Director’s Noval statement Mayor Celebre of Jaro said “Akoy nagagalak na kahit hinde ko nakamit ang pagiging Summa Cum Laude sa aking pag tatapos sa kolehiyo, aking nakamtan ang pagiging Summa Cum Laude sa aking pag lilingkod bilang Alkalde ng bayang ito”. Akoy nag papasalamat sa inyong suporta sa aking mga magagandang  adhikain para sa ating mamamayan”

The Mayors on their part, Mayor Rolando T. Celebre of Jaro, Mayor Eduardo Ong of Carigara and Mayor Alden Averstruz of Barugo expressed their gratitude to all local government officials and the different sectors for their cooperation and support in attaining their programs and projects.

They said that had it not been for the support of all the stakeholders the awarding of the SGLG could have not been possible.

The awarding ceremonins were held last September 9 in Barugo and September 14 in Carigara and Jaro respectively.

To be awarded with SGLG a local government has to pass all 3 Core criteria namely; Good Financial Housekeeping, Disaster peparedeness, and at least one of the essentials namely: Business-friendliness and Competitiveness, Peace and order and Environmental Management.

Aside from the Seal that were installed at the municipal hall of the three mnuncipalities , the Mayors were also awarded with the medal of Good Local Governance for their exemplary leadership.

A cash prize of 3 Million Pesos from the Performance Challenge Fund was also awarded to each municipality to be used to finance various millennium development goal projects.

Out of the 41 local government units in the province of Leyte only the three municipalities were awarded with this year’s Seal of Good Local Governance award .(isumat.com)
