TACLOBAN CITY – Philippine National Police in Eastern Visayas condemned the Maute group for the atrocities that flared up in Marawi City Tuesday afternoon.
In a press statement, PCSUPT Robert Badian, OIC- PRO8 said that local terrorists only aims to attract attention in order to gain support from International Terrorist groups.
The PNP also clarifies that there are no presence of International Terrorist or the Islamic Static State of Syria and Iraq in the country.
“as per intelligence reports, there is still no ISIS in the philippines but local terrorist is trying to elicit support from them through these acts of terrorism”, Badian said
“The PNP and the military is still on top of the situation and that the City of Marawi is still under government control”, he added.
PRO8 also is in constant alert and is willing to send troop in the area whenever they needed.
Furthermore, PCSUPT Badian said that the police here in Eastern Visayas supports the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao.
“With the declaration of Martial law, it will be easy for public safety forces to neutralize terrorist and their supporters. There is no more need to apply for search warrant or warrant of arrests against persons who are reported to be supporting or harboring terrorists, it will also be easier for the government forces to recover firearms and other contraband”, Badian said
Badian also appealed to the public to 1. refrain from posting or sharing propaganda of the local terrorist especially in social media and also spreading pictures especially the location of government forces or troops who are currently undergoing pursuit operation, 2. be vigilant and report to the nearest Police Station the suspicious persons who may create diversionary tactics and employ violence to divert attention. isumat.com
