Chief Inspector Leo Laraga OF CIDG-8 in a senate inquiry admitted shooting Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa to death.

24 members of the Philippine National Police who took part in the police operation that killed Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa and Nestor Yap were relieved from their respective posts effective November 10, 2016.

The order covers 18 members of the CIDG-8 and 6 operatives from the Regional Maritime Unit -8 and they are the following:

The said police officers were re-assigned to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit in the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City while an investigation is being conducted by the PNP.

PNP Chief Ronald Bato assured the public that appropriate criminal and administrative charges will be filed if it will be found out the police officers violated the law when they conducted the raid at the Baybay Sub-Provincial Jail.
