A 41-year-old department collector of the Tacloban City Treasurers Office who peddles methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu on the side, was arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during an entrapment operation on September 16, 2014.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. identified the suspect as RODOLFO SALDAÑA JR. y BORJA, a regular City Government employee for almost 26 years already and resident of BLISS Nula-tula, Tacloban City.

At around 6:30 o’clock in the evening of September 16, 2014, operatives of PDEA Regional Office 8 (PDEA RO8) under the direct supervision of Director Laurefel Gabales arrested Saldaña after he sold one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance, to an undercover PDEA agent who acted as poseur-buyer along Old Road, Sagkahan District, Tacloban City.

Said drug item and two five hundred peso bills confiscated from the suspect were subjected to an inventory in the presence of witnesses from the media and the Department of Justice, and an elected official.

He will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which is punishable by life imprisonment and payment of a fine of from 500 thousand to ten million pesos.

The suspect is currently in the custody of PDEA VIII RO VIII while awaiting the confinement order.
