TACLOBAN CITY, March 12 (PNA) — The city council has recognized a 55-year old job order employee of the city government here for returning a bag containing Php100,000 cash and Php140,000 checks, to its owner.

Vice Mayor Jerry Yaokasin and members of the city council handed the commendation to the city hall employee cited as a role model, not only for city hall employees, but also for the youth.

The model employee was Rosalito Mamita, who has been working with the city government for more than 20 years now and has been assigned in different departments.

Mamita worked as a garbage collector and a street sweeper prior to his present task of maintaining the park and plaza of this city.

He earns about Php5,000 a month, which according to him is not enough for the needs of his family. He has two children – one in high school and the other is in college. His wife works as a babysitter.

More than a year now since super typhoon Yolanda battered the city, they have not fixed their house yet due to financial constraints.

Despite financial problems, it never crossed his mind to use the money that belongs to somebody else.
