Javier, Leyte – Presidential Aspirant Mar Roxas pledges 100 Billion pesos additional funds to Local Government Units if he wins in next year’s elections.

Roxas made the commitment in a gathering of Leyte Mayors and Mayoralty Candidates of the ruling Liberal party at the residence of Mayor Sandy Javier on Friday.

“Pa lalakihin ko ang pundo ng BUB” Roxas said, referring to the nationally funded Bottom-up budgeting system, a poverty alleviation program in which most if not all of 41 municipalities in the province are beneficiaries.

“The allocation of additional funds will be based on the number of population of every LGU multiply by One thousand Pesos” . “Meaning with our population of One Hundred Million, a total of One Hundred Billion Pesos will be set aside to be taken from the Capital Outlay component of the national budget to finance priority development projects of LGU’s “. Roxas said.

” Assuming that the municipality of Palo, Leyte has a population of Seventy Three Thousand (73,000) then they will get Seventy Three Million Pesos( 73 Million Pesos) additional funds per year or Four Hundred Thirty Eight Million Pesos (483 Million Pesos) in the next six years this is on top of the internal revenue allotment that the municipality is receiving from the national government on a regular basis” Roxas added.

Roxas however clarifies that for smaller municipalities with a population of five thousand for example will get a fair share a minimum of Fifteen Million Pesos per year.

“Kahit hinde na Kayo mag sip-sip sa MalacaƱang, Kahit hinde kayo harapin ng mga Secretaries, undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, kahit kalaban kayo ng congressman niyo, ang ganitong halaga ng development ay makakarating sa inyo. Roxas said.

Present during the said meeting were Leyte Governor Leopoldo “Mic” Petilla, Leyte 3rd District Congressman Andy Salvacion, League of Municipalities of the Philippines National President and Javier, Leyte Mayor Sandy javier and Palo Mayor Matin Petilla and majority of the incumbent Mayors among others.
