TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Regional Satellite Office, this city has recorded some significant accomplishments for the first semester of the year.

During the press conference held recently at the Training Center of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 8, POEA Regional Coordinator Ma. Rosario Jervoso said the processing of documents is faster now compared to previous years, as part of the improvement of the delivery of services.

Jervoso also stressed that from January to June 2014, a total of 2, 281 applications for Single Overseas Employment Certificates were processed by the agency under the Balik Manggagawa Program, 19 of which are for multiple travel exit clearance (MTEC).

The Multiple Travel Exit Clearance (MTEC) became available only last June 10 this year, after Yolanda struck the city last November and destroyed the computers of the office.

Jervoso likewise informed that releases of exit passes for vacationing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW’s) may only take 15 minutes and the fastest is 2 or 3 minutes provided they already have the necessary supporting documents.

Moreover, a total of ten (10) pre-employment orientation seminar (PEOS) were conducted to a total of 6, 538 participants all over the region, which is way beyond the 10, 000 target for 6 month period.

Likewise, a total of seven (7) job fairs were coordinated or supervised by the POEA Region 8 Satellite Office. (GTT/CBA/PIA-8)
