NAVAL, Biliran, (PIA) – ‘Never give up, never lose hope’ said the regional information officer of the government’s drug enforcement agency during the “Kapihan at Pulong-pulong ng Bayan” on September 11, 2014 at 11:00 o’clock live at Radyo Natin-Naval as she appealed for public cooperation to help contain the emerging problem on illegal drugs in the community.

Liza Baoy of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Eastern Visayas said, the problem on illegal drugs particularly on methamphetamine hydrochloride locally known as “shabu” is thriving not only in the province of Biliran but also in other places in the country.

She admitted that her office and that of other law enforcement agencies like the Philippine National Police (PNP) are handicapped in terms of the number of personnel tasked to counter this big problem on illegal drugs.

“We need the support of the public, the community” Baoy added implying that the public and the community members have a big stake in containing the problem on illegal drugs.

The public vigilance in the community is already a deterent for people engaged in the illegal drugs trade to pursue such criminal activity.

Reporting to authorities even the small time drug peddlers is a big help since it will help us track the bigger one who is the focus of PDEA’s high valued target and high impact operations at present, the lady PDEA information officer said. (vrc/rsv/PIA8-Biliran)
