TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte,  (PIA) – The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) in Eastern Visayas on Friday activated its Operations Center for a peaceful observance of Holy Week.

In a text message, RDRRMC chairman Rey Gozon has directed that the OpCen be raised to Blue Alert Status starting March 27 to April 6, 2015.

“All concerned agencies, local government units and local DRRMCs are requested to operate on a 24/7 Blue Alert on this period to monitor, record, document, consolidate and report all related activities and report of incidents,” the directive stated.

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reactivated its Motorist Assistance Teams to provide assistance to the traveling public during the Holy Week.

Regional director Rolando M. Asis directed its District Engineers to assign Lakbay Alalay Teams in their respective stations starting March 30 to April 6, 2015 to provide round-the-clock assistance on normal and emergency situations and ensure the safety of the traveling public.

Director Asis also directed the District Engineers to ensure that all national roads and bridges under their jurisdiction are maintained and passable with appropriate signages and warning signs on all on-going projects to avoid any untoward incidents. (ldl/PIA-8)
