TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) – The National Crime Prevention Week –Technical Working Group held its initial meeting recently at the National Police Commission (Napolcom) Regional Office 8.
The meeting was in preparation for the National Crime Prevention Week Celebration this coming September 1-7, 2014.
Representatives from the members of the technical working group attended the meeting which was presided by Napolcom OIC Atty. R. Danilo N. Rosillo.
Topics discussed were focused on the various plans, programs and activities for the week-long celebration with the active involvement of the Department of Education, National Police Commission, Department of Interior and Local Government, Civil Service Commission, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Philippine Information Agency, Commission on Higher Education, Philippine National Police, schools, local government units and non-government organizations.
For the kick-off ceremony on September 1, 2014, a mass will be conducted at the Eastern Visayas State University followed by a short program to be participated by the members of technical working group.
The highlight of the ceremony is the simultaneous blowing of whistles to commence the week-long celebration.
The celebration is expected to generate community awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of crime prevention and foster interest and participation of the general public.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Krimen ay Labanan, Karapatan ay Igalang tungo sa Mapayapang Pamayanan”. (AJC/CBA/PIA-8)
