TACLOBAN CITY, Feb. 13 (PNA) — The Department of Health(DOH) and the Commission on Populations (PopCom) in Eastern Visayas organized a team tasked to oversee the implementation of Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH) Law at the regional level.
In a statement, PopCom regional director Elnora R. Pulma said that the regional implementation team (RIT) is chaired by the DOH and co-chaired by PopCom, which will also act as head of the secretariat.
On Feb. 6, DOH assistant secretary for technical services Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial has oriented RIT members on the team structure and operationalization of the RPRH Law.
Members of the RIT are regional representatives from the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Regional Development Council (RDC), and from the civil society organizations.
”The RIT functions in the management of the dissemination and implementation of all issuances pursuant to RPRH Law and its IRR at the regional level; coordinate the actions of the regional agencies in the areas of policy development,” Pulma said.
It is also tasked to provide capacity-building, advocacy, education, information, health service delivery, field operations and monitoring and evaluation; and give recommendations to the national team to improve the implementation and impact of the law in the region.
The RPRH law seeks to provide improved public access to natural and artificial family planning options, better maternal care, and youth education. (PNA)
