TACLOBAN CITY, Jan. 2 (PNA) — The Philippine National Police (PNP) regional office here formed a special investigation task group to ensure speedy investigation and case resolution of the Dec. 28 town plaza bombing that injured 32 boxing match spectators in Hilongos, Leyte.

The team is composed of PNP Eastern Visayas Regional Director Chief Supt. Elmer Beltejar as supervisor, deputy regional director Sr. Supt Allan Cuevillas as commander, Leyte provincial director Sr. Supt. Franco Simborio as assistant commander, Chief Insp. Ma. Bella Rentuaya as spokesperson, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group officer-in-charge Supt. Jojie Tabios as head of investigation team.

The PNP picked eight other key police officers as evidence custodian. The police also asked the help of National Bureau of Investigation Regional Director Jerry Abiera, and Army 802nd brigade commander Capt. Jay Dayap to assist in the probe.

Beltejar said the group was created to spearhead and coordinate the investigative and prosecutorial efforts of the police regional office for the speedy resolution and successful prosecution on the explosion incident.

“It is the responsibility of the team to properly manage the case and ensure its resolution by applying the best investigative techniques and practices and utilizing all its available resources,” he said. (PNA) JAZMIN BONIFACIO
