TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, (PIA) –The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Eastern Visayas is reminding the taxpaying public to file and/or pay their corresponding taxes due as early as possible to avoid being imposed with corresponding penalties.

This, as the taxable year is about to close and start the tax filing season of income tax returns (ITR’s) for calendar year 2015.

In a press statement, BIR Deputy Commissioner Nelson M Aspe appeals to all taxpayers in the region to start preparing and submitting annual ITRs and its accompanying attachments as early as January and no longer wait for the deadline of the tax filing in April 15.

Reymarie T. Dela Cruz, Chief of the Public Information and Education Division said that all manual and/or electronic tax filers or accredited tax agents using eBIRForms and eFPs (Electronic Filing and Payment System) should download its latest version and start filing early to avoid technical difficulties or downtime of the system.

It was learned that on December 26, 2015 all BIR systems (the Integrated Tax System, eFPS, eBIRForms and other eServices) underwent its regular system maintenance in preparation for the tax filing season and year-end adjustment.
