Carigara, Leyte – Another suspected drug pusher was collared by PDEA operatives in an entrapment operation conducted on July 4, 2014 at Bapilis, East Visoria, this municipality.
PDEA RO VIII Regional Director Atty. Gil T. Pabilona identified the suspect as one JAIME JARVIS LIM PONFERRADA, 49 years old, married and a resident of Jose Rizal Street, Brgy. Jugaban, Carigara, Leyte. Ponferrada was apprehended following the sale of 0.1798 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to an operative who acted as poseur-buyer.
According to Director Pabilona, at around 10:30 in the morning of July 4, 2014, the poseur-buyer completed the transaction with Ponferrada, after which the back-up team announced the fact of arrest. On-site marking was done on the single sachet of shabu obtained from the suspect.
Inventory of drug and non-drug evidence then followed in compliance with the requirements of Section 21 of Article II of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
A case for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) has been filed against the suspect in the appropriate court. Section 5 carries with it the penalty of life imprisonment and payment of a fine of five hundred thousand to ten million pesos. Ponferrada is presently in custody of the PDEA RO VIII Custodial team while awaiting disposition of his case.
Menawhile, following a string of successful entrapment operations in the province of Biliran another suspected drug pusher was arrested by PDEA operatives in Naval, this province, last July 11, 2014.
The suspect was identified as one HAIDEE O. PEREZ, 39 years old, married and a resident of Brgy. Sto. Niño, Naval, Biliran. Ponferrada was apprehended following the sale of 0.0911 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to an operative who acted as poseur-buyer.
Records show that at around 10:00 o’clock in the evening of July 11, 2014, the poseur-buyer completed the transaction with Perez, after which he was arrested. Miranda rights were read by the arresting officer, forthwith on-site marking was done on the sachet of shabu bought from the suspect and the other one which was discovered in the course of body search.
Inventory of drug and non-drug evidence then followed in compliance with the requirements of Section 21 of Article II of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Perez is presently in custody of the BJMP unit in Naval while awaiting disposition of his case.
