BORONGAN CITY, Jan. 24 (PIA) — The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital (ESPH), Dr. Jessica Sabalbareno said that the hospital is preparing for the Bulig Kablas Medical Mission (BKMM) to be held on January 27 to February 6, 2020, its 16th year of medical, surgical and dental services to the poor Estehanons at the ESPH, Borongan City.
“It takes a year to prepare for the said event because we cater to all Estehanons needing medical assistance,” Sabalbareno said.
The mission expects hundreds of Estehanons to benefit from the medical, surgical and dental services from the BKMM.
It was learned that the patients who will avail this medical mission have undergone “screening” in their respective area through the five existing “Inter-Local Health Zone” in Eastern Samar.
From additional information from the ESPH, there about 300 patients who can avail the major and minor operation..
The medical mission team is ready and prepared to conduct major operation such as: Eye, Ears and Nose (ENT) – goiter, Obstetrician Gynecologists (OB-GYN) -myoma. For general surgery like: hemorrhoids, and hernias and minor surgery like: cysts and pediaric surgery like cleft lip and palate.
The OIC further said that the medical team is composed of 46 health officers from the Diocese of Joliet, Illinois, USA. Most of them are general surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OB-GYN doctors, and nurses.
“We are happy that Gov. Ben P. Evardone is very supportive with the hospital needs, by providing ur requests,” Sabalbareno said.
“The medicines, the room for patients are already prepared. There are two pharmacies to be put-up for the in-patients and the other one for the out-patients. We will augment the ESPH staff, Gov. Evardone signed a Memorandum for augmentation of personnel and staff from other hospitals,” the chief of hospital said.
She then reported that the hospital conducted a blood letting activity.
“We would usually need 100 bags for the medical mission, ” she said.
At the moment, there are three medical internists and one cardiologist from EVRMC who are already at the ESPH ready to help the BKMM.
She also informed that the LGU purchased eight ambulances amounting to P20-M, where three of these are for ESPH.
The Provincial Government of Eastern Samar also allocated P2.8-M as a counterpart for the BKMM.
