CATARMAN, Northern Samar, (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways – Northern Samar First District Engineering Office (DPWH-NSFDEO) has intensified the clearing operations of national roads from obstructions within the district’s jurisdiction in strict enforcement and compliance to a Department Order, said Analiza Pabia, public information officer.
Department Order No. 73, series of 2014, signed by then DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson, directs all district engineers to immediately remove or cause the removal of all obstructions as well as prohibiting the use within the Right-Of-Way (ROW) of all national roads within their respective jurisdiction.
“The office is serious in the enforcement of the Department Order on the removal of obstructions and prohibiting the use specifically the road-right-of way of the national highway,” District Engineer Magtanggol Roldan said.
Meanwhile, Don Danielle, road-right-of-way in-charge, has reported 2,762 encroachment along the national road within the first district of the province with 859 classified as concrete structure and 1,903 doable or light structure.
“The office already served three notices to identified property owners and a dialogue will follow suit,” added Roldan.
“If they resist to remove the obstructions, legal actions will be undertaken,” he said.
Currently, the district engineering office has already removed a total of 1,383 structures. (PIA-8, Northern Samar)
