TACLOBAN CITY – Three teenagers were killed when a motorcycle they are driven crashed into a Ten-wheeler-truck along national highway of Barangay Libongao, Kananga town, Leyte.

Police identified the victims as James Kenneth Costillos, 18, the driver of the motorcycle; with backriders namely Ervin Albis, 19; and Felipe Tapar, 18 — all students and residents of Barangay Naghalin.

In an interview, PSSUPT Norberto Tuazon, Head of Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) said that base on initial investigation conducted, the truck was traversing from Tacloban city heading the direction of Ormoc.

Meanwhile, the motorcycle was traversing from Baranggay Naghalin on their way to their Public market.

Upon reaching at the place of occurrence, the motorcycle suddenly counter flowed from opposite direction when accidentally hit by approaching truck that was driven by certain Bejie Jabilles y Balili, 21.

The victims were run over and were dragged few meters from the point of impact thereby resulted to severe head and body injuries.

The victims were brought to Kananga Community hospital for medical treatment but were pronounced dead-on-arrival by the attending physician.

The driver of the truck immediately surrendered to the police and was detained pending the filing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide.

Furthermore, PSSUPT Tuazon said that all three victims were not wearing head protecting helmets.

Also he reminded all road-users to be specially cautious during their commute, to be considerate to others, to keep the speed limit, to refrain from using mobile phones whilst driving, to ensure that the driver is fully alert and to always adhere road regulations. isumat.com Photos by/Isumat.com
