TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Feb. 13 (PIA) – The Department of Health (DOH) in Eastern Visayas has undertaken contact tracing on the two passengers from the region on board the Saudi Airlines flight 860 that arrived in Manila last week.

This, after the DOH identified the two passengers from region 8 who were on board the Saudi flight together with the 32 year-old Filipina nurse who tested positive for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (MERSCOV) and now confined in a negative pressure room at Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM).

DOH Regional Director Jose R. Llcuna Jr. said, the two passengers will be observed at Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC) but refused to divulge the identities of the two passengers.

“We are going into the contact tracing stage na and then they will be housed at EVRMC for observation,” Llacuna said.

Even if the possibility of other passengers on the plane to be infected is low, according to experts, the government ensures that all necessary preventive measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the infectious disease.

Llacuna assured the public that trained health workers are ready to treat any suspected patient of MERSCOV (ajc/cba/PIA-8)
