TACLOBAN CITY, June 10 (PNA) –- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regional office here is eyeing to draw 1,000 participants in a three-day business and consumer roadshow on June 21 to 23 through various activities that would “bring under one roof” seminars, fora, consultations, and meeting with buyers.

DTI Eastern Visayas Regional Director Cynthia Nierras said the three-day event dubbed as Negosyo, Konsyumer at Iba Pa (NKATBP) will raise awareness of businesses and consumers on the DTI’s “mandate of enabling business and empowering consumers.”

Nierras said that through NKATBP, they’re aiming to link buyers and local producers in inbound buying mission, which is expected to generate PHP1.89 million sales.

During the event, 25 local products will be featured in special setting, 20 suppliers will join the Diskwento Caravan, PHP2.1 million loans from the DTI-Small Business Corporation will be released to 10 recipients, and awarding of PHP10 million worth of shared service facility equipment.

The DTI will also recognize 97 local government units for their participation in the competitiveness index study, recognize 33 private and government partners for supporting DTI programs, and inaugurate a shared service facility food retort packaging project at the Eastern Visayas State University.

“The immediate goals are to support small and medium enterprises in being more aggressive in taking advantage of opportunities and more confident in addressing challenges in their business operations through better environment, financial support, market access, and productivity and efficiency,” Nierras said.

NKATBP is a breakthrough initiative of the DTI, spearheaded by the Regional Operations Group as a strategy to drive at “full speed” the growth and development of small and medium enterprises. (PNA)
