With the capture of its current leader, the Giron Drug Group operating in Tacloban City and environs has been immobilized.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region VIII arrested yesterday, December 13, 2012 at around 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon one RAMON SIOZON GIRON, 46 years old, married, machine shop owner-proprietor and a resident of RJD Subdivision, San Jose, Tacloban City, after he sold a medium-sized sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to a PDEA agent acting as a poseur-buyer.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said Giron, who is concurrently believed to be co-leader of the ANG drug group also operating in Tacloban City, sold a sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to a PDEA operative in a transaction worth two thousand pesos (PhP 2,000.00).
PDEA through Regional Director Atty. Gil T. Pabilona filed appropriate charges against the suspect for violation of Sections5 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, or the Sale of Dangerous Drugs. If convicted, Giron faces life imprisonment and payment of a fine of from five hundred thousand to million pesos at the court’s discretion..
Giron is currently detained at the PDEA RO VIII custodial facility pending transfer to the lock-up cell of the Tacloban City Police Office..
