MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, May 4 (PIA) — In the remaining eight months of this year, this province stands as recipient of financial assistance coming from three agencies of the government, the funds intended for projects that further spur development and social welfare of the people.
Diego Dain Credo, Executive Assistant in the Office of the Governor who doubles as Media Liaison Officer, disclosed during a recent dySL Kapihan sa PIA that the Department of Health (DOH) has set aside P 25 Million for the construction of a hospital in Sogod town.
Another agency, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), has earmarked P 50 Million for the construction of school buildings in different schools of the province to be channeled through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the construction arm of the government
Then the Department of Agriculture (DA) has chipped in P 25 Million for the continuation of a cross-country road construction linking Maasin and Bontoc, through the Lunas-Pacu-Mahayahay hinterland arterial road network which is widely seen as a boost to shorten travel time from the pacific and Panaon areas of the province to the capital, in addition to serving as an all-weather farm-to-market road.
Credo also said DOH Secretary Janet Garin pledged to make good the commitment of former DOH Secretary Enrique Ona, in which the resigned DOH head had committed P 100 Million for health and wellness services of Southern Leytenos.
The combined total of this assistance very well surpassed the P 70 Million PDAF allotted to each lawmaker before, Dain added. (esg/mmp, PIA8-Southern Leyte)
