TACLOBAN CITY, April 29– The top police and local government officials on Saturday urged the new leadership of Leyte provincial police office to step up fight against illegal drugs.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Director for Administration Chief Supt. Roberto Badian ordered the provincial police to sustain the gains or even surpass previous accomplishments on the fight against illegal drugs.
“We have to continue supporting President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign to fight illegal drugs and eliminate corruption in the PNP,” said Badian who led the turnover ceremony on Saturday of the new provincial director at the Leyte provincial office in San Jose District, this city.
Sr. Supt. Norberto Tuazon replaced Sr. Supt. Franco Simborio, who will be assigned at the regional office.
Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla urged Tuazon to win the trust of people while ensuring the success of the campaign against all types of crimes.
“We can do nothing if we will not gain support from the people. We need to harmonize our effort and to gain their trust for our fights to succeed,” Petilla said.
Petilla reiterated his request to the PNP to continue their fight against illegal drugs.
In response, Tuazon asked for support from local government officials and vowed to remain true to their mandate.(Roel T. Amazona/PNA)
