TACLOBAN CITY, April 1 (PNA) – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has deployed more action officers to man help desks within the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport complex this Holy Week.

CAAP Eastern Visayas area manager Antonio Alfonso said action officers positioned inside and outside the airport terminal building were trained to answer questions from travellers and address some of their needs.

“The help desks have been there, but we have emphasized its presence and assign more staff since Monday,” Alfonso said.

The desks also steps up security measures and conduct more visible and frequent security monitoring of all facilities in the airport, in cooperation with police forces.

“Most passengers ask for direction and mode of transportation to get to different places. These help desks also entertains health and security-related complaints of passengers,” he added.

Deployment for help desks at the airport’s arrival area have been augmented since the area is usually congested every 30 minutes from sunrise to sunset.

The intensified operation of help desks is part of the Department of Transportation and Communication Oplan Ligtas Biyahe program

The DZR Airport has an average of 4,000 outgoing and incoming passengers daily, making it as one of the busiest airport in the country. (PNA)
