High-value drug target killed in Maasin City buy-bust

ORMOC CITY, Leyte — A “high-value target” was killed in a police drug buy-bust operation in Maasin City, Southern Leyte on Wednesday.

During the transaction, suspect Antonio Espera sensed that he was dealing with the police after he sold five sachets of shabu, worth PHP5,000, in a buy-bust operation in Pasay village.

Espera then drew his firearm and fired at the police team, which prompted the operatives to return fire and hit the suspect, the police report said.

The wounded Espera was rushed to Southern Leyte Provincial Hospital where he was pronounced dead by attending physician. The police tagged him as level 2 high-value target.

Recovered from the slain suspect include a .38-caliber pistol loaded with five fired cartridge cases and one live bullet, two empty shells, PHP4,783 cash, and a motorcycle.

The said operation was conducted by the joint team from the
Maasin City, Southern Leyte – Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, City Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit, Provincial Intelligence Bureau and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit. (PNA)
