The local government unit of Palo in partnership with the private sector and the archdiocese of Palo constructed a mass grave memorial for the victims of typhoon yolanda of the said municipality. Earlier today a commemorative program and blessing was held to formally open the memorial to the public.

The said activity was attended by local officials and representative from the different sectors who toke part in the relief and rehabilitation effort after the onslaught of typhoon yolanda.

The mass grave memorial is located at the Our Lady of Transfiguration Parish ground adjacent to the Palo municipal Building.

Isumat news team also visited the mass grave at Barangay San Joaquin Palo, Leyte where a mass grave memorial is also under construction.

San Joaquin is one of the hardest hit barangay of Palo who lost a considerable number of its residents to typhoon yolanda.

They buried their dead in a mass grave just in front of the San Joqauin parish Church.

We are sharing some of the photos that were taken during our visit to the said mass graves.
