Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte – Police Regional Office 8 thru the leadership of PCSUPT ASHER ABANILLA DOLINA, Acting Regional Director is working closely with the Department of Education and other national and local government agencies to ensure peaceful and orderly opening of classes on June 1, 2015.

According to PCSUPT DOLINA, police personnel will be deployed regionwide to conduct mobile and foot patrol along major routes leading towards learning institutions and within the immediate vicinity of school premises. This strategic intervention is aside from the establishment of Police Assistance Desks (PADs) where students and other individuals can report cases of bullying and other crimes.

The Acting Regional Director, PRO8 further cautions the students to be wary of strangers and to refrain from talking to them, avoid wearing expensive jewelry and avoid bringing large amounts of money or from using expensive phones while in the streets.

PRO8 will also continue extending its help to the DepEd’s “Brigada Eskwela” program in preparing the public school classrooms for the opening of school classes.

According to the DepEd Departmental Order No. 9 s. 2015, issued by Secretary of Education Armin Luistro, the official school year starts on June 1, 2015 and ends April 1, 2016.

DepEd has also set the conduct of Brigada Eskwela on May 18-23, 2015 and Oplan Balik Eskwela on May 25-29, 2015 in anticipation of the school year opening, to prepare the classroom and training facilities for the thousands students this year.
