Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte Police Regional Office 8 Task Force “Paputok” scores anew in the campaign against proliferation of firecrackers in Eastern Visayas.

A team composed of Task Force “Paputok” led by PCI LEO D LARAGA  executed the Search Warrant with number 2015-027 BS and 2015-027AM both issued by Hon. Janet Cabalona, Presiding Judge Branch 33 Calbiga Samar against one Frederick Fernandez Dy, owner of Barstow Grains Supply and marketing located at 236 Tarcela St., Tacloban City and its Warehouse at Brgy. 91 Abucay, Tacloban City, respectively for Violation of RA 7183 on December 21, 2015, at 10:35 AM.

Confiscated illegal firecrackers were as follows: At Barstow Grains Supply Marketing: Three (3) rims (10 packs each) Lolo Thunder; Ten (10) rims (10 packs each) Super Lolo; One (1) rim (10 pack) 5 star; Eleven (11) pcs SAWA 500 and Sixteen (16) pcs Rambo Special 500 rounds. Other firecrackers were seized at the Warehouse: 4 boxes (20 pcs each) Rambo 500 rounds; 91 pcs Rambo Special 500 rounds; 4 pcs JVS; 230 rims (10 packs each) Lolo Thunder; 131 rims (10 packs each) Super Lolo; 110 pcs SAWA 500; 110 pcs SAWA 1000; 20 pcs SAWA 2000; 4 pcs SAWA 5000 and 54 rims (10 pcs each) Plapla.

The said confiscated items are now in the custody of FESAGS, PRO8. This accomplishment is in line with the government’s campaign to avoid injuries brought about by firecrackers during holiday season.

PCSUPT CEDRICK G TRAIN, OIC, PRO8 appeals to the public to refrain from using fireworks and firecrackers to celebrate the New Year. He likewise directed all police units to operate against illegal vendors of illegal firecrackers or fireworks.

The OIC added that the use of illegal pyrotechnic materials might cause accidents that may result in injuries, fire incident, damage to properties and worst, loss of lives.

The PNP together with other concerned government agencies will work hand in hand in aiming for a zero- firecracker related incidence and damages to property during the celebration of New Year. With its intensified campaign against illegal firecrackers, fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices, the PNP will go after the vendors and will remain vigilant against those who are not strictly complying with the safety guidelines.

PCSUPT TRAIN reminds the public to be cautious in using firecrackers and fireworks to prevent accidents and fires during the holiday season. There are still alternative ways of making the holiday season loud and merry other than these pyrotechnic devices that pose risks to health and public safety.

The PNP will be on full alert status during the holiday season to assure the peaceful celebration of the event.
