The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized 121.03 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, popularly known as shabu, during an entrapment operation and implementation of a search warrant in Leyte.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said that the confiscated illegal drug worth approximately P 770,500, was seized from a house in Bantiller Street, Poblacion, Kananga, Leyte.

On November 30, 2012, at around 6:45 in the evening, combined elements of PDEA Regional Office 8 (PDEA RO8) under Director Julius Navales; Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) of the Leyte Provincial Police Office (LPPO) and Kananga Municipal Police Station, conducted a buy-bust operation in Bantiller Street which resulted in the arrest of Roel Oliverio, alias Kawi, 33 years old, jobless.

Oliverio was arrested after he handed over a sachet of shabu containing 0.06 grams to a poseur-buyer in exchange for the 500-peso marked bill (used as buy-bust money). Thereafter and armed with a warrant, the operatives searched Oliverio’s house and recovered eight more plastic sachets containing shabu and several drug paraphernalia.

The suspect will be facing appropriate charges for violation of Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
