BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar, (PIA) —- The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) formally inaugurated and turned over two new school buildings to the Balangiga National Agricultural School (BNAS) on February 16, 2016 in Balangiga, Eastern Samar.

According to Mr. Enrico Banario, TESDA Provincial Director, the two-unit Food Technology Annex Building will house the workshops for Food and Beverage Services National Certificate (NC-II) and Bartending NC II while the 4-unit Construction Technology Building , will accommodate the workshops for Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II, Carpentry NC II, Plumbing NC II and Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II.

Banario disclosed that the project cost of the two new school buildings is P 13.8-M and the tools and equipment given to BNAS schools is worth P 2.6-M.

TESDA and JICA officials went through the turn-over ceremony, ribbon cutting, unveiling of the commemorative plaques in each new building, the transfer of the symbolic key and equipment, training manual and instructional video on Carpentry and the awarding of National Certificates (NC-II) to the masons and carpenters who worked in the construction project.

In his message, Mr. Tetsuya Yamada, JICA Philippines Senior Representative gave the words of challenge to which TESDA Regional Director Cleta Omega accepted assuring JICA that BNAS will take care and maintain the structure and facilities given to them.

Present during the turn-over ceremony were TMr. Enoki Hiroyuki, First Secretary and Labour Attache of the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines, Mr. Tetsuya Yamada, Senior Representative, Mr. Kenichi Shirouzo, JICA Philippines Representative, TESDA Director General Irene Isaac, RD Cleta Omega, PD Engr.
